Women tend to have significantly lower testosterone levels than men due to sexual dimorphism.

The menstrual cycle and pregnancy promote the release of high levels oestrogen, which nullifies the effects of testosterone and further converts it into oestrogen. The aim of this is of course to increase fat storage as an incubator for potential babies. This is why it can be tough for women to lose the baby weight.

Until recently, the beauty standard for women has been pretty ******ing terrible for their testosterone levels and risk of osteoporosis. Crash diets and long hours of steady-state cardio will absolutely plummet your test like no tomorrow. Cutting out whole food groups, such as dairy, will help crack your bones. Guess how I know!

When a woman is going through menopause, along with estrogen depletion, she is also losing her ability to produce adequate amounts of testosterone. A woman with low testosterone, will have trouble producing new blood cells, maintaining her libido or sex drive, and will find it harder to build muscle and burn fat. There is special testosterone therapy for women to avoid these problems, you can read more info in the article.
